A less phat philled cheese steak that still satisfies a mighty hunger. I like to make these as 4 inch hand sized snacks to put out as adult sized finger foods.
Ingredients:
1 – 11/2 [pounds of beef sirloin. (Get a very lean cut and trim fat)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 onions sliced
3 bell peppers (green, yellow or orange) sliced
6 hoagie rolls (or any kind you like)
6 oz reduced fat mozzarella cheese grated
Directions:
Combine seasonings in a bowl and rub mixture onto meat.
Wrap Meat in plastic or seal in a plastic bad a place in freezer for about 30-45 minutes.
Remove meat from freezer and slice thinly.
Coat a skillet with cooking spray (or just a little oil)
Heat skillet and add vegetables until soft and lightly browned.
Remove Vegetables and add meat to hot skillet and cook for about 5 minutes, or until desire level of doneness.
Add vegetables back to meat and stir to combine.
Slice rolls top with meat mixture then cheese and place under broiler until cheese is melted and bread is slightly toasted.
