Calling all High School seniors, the deadline to apply for a Salute to Education scholarship for college or vocational school is February 19th. Seniors attending San Diego County high schools are eligible to apply. Each scholarship is $1,000 AND one lucky scholarship recipient will win a new Ford vehicle. Union-Tribune Race for Literacy 8K Run/Walk!
San Diego’s favorite race is back, the Union-Tribune Race for Literacy 8K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 7th at Balboa Park! This noncompetitive one-mile race is for kids of all ages! There is no pressure to win because every child is a winner and is rewarded as such with a shiny medal as they cross the finish line to the roar of the crowd. The race entry fee also includes a cool event T-shirt plus those age 12 & under also receive a FREE book. KyXy and Project Concern International have been working closely with a committee of high school students to plan and execute San Diego Walk for Water. San Diegans are encouraged to participate in this 5K journey along Mission Bay Park to commemorate World Water Day, March 21, 2010 beginning at 10:00am. Cans for the Critters
Help save endangered species one recyclable at a time. If you love animals and want to make a difference in the world, the San Diego Zoo needs you! Cans for the Critters ia a recycling drive organized by the Zoological Society of San Diego. Schools, Scouts, and orginizations from every corner of the nation, participate in the drive. Participants collect recyclables and then donate the proceeds to the San diego Zoo's endangered species conservation efforts.The final day to donate is on April 30, 2010.
