What is the Peak Performance Program?
Peak Performance is two-phased program designed so that anyone can be successful no matter what amount of physical exercise you’ve been doing until now.
Phase 1 starts in early November. At the beginning of Phase 1 Peak Performance participants will have an initial assessment of their overall conditioning. Each participant will record their initial assessment in their personal Training Log. There will be a nutrition component that will also be assessed. Peak Performance participants will continue to log their progress throughout Phase 1 of the program. You’ll take this great base of conditioning on to Phase 2 training for your event.
Now about the training…the training goal for Peak Performance is to guide you through a series of conditioning workouts that will take you from wherever you may be right now to a level that will give you the best chance to reach your Peak Performance entering your marathon training program.
There will be three coached workouts at three different locations per week. Each workout will focus on different areas of conditioning. Each of these areas will make you a stronger marathoner.
Monday evening workouts will be hosted by Being-Fit Fitness Center in San Diego. Being-Fit workouts will focus on core, middle of body strength and conditioning.
Wednesday evenings will be at Rehab United Sports in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa area. These workouts will focus on flexibility, balance, and injury prevention techniques.
Saturday mornings will be at Velocity Sports in Carlsbad. Velocity workouts will focus on agility, quickness, and explosiveness.
It’s been proven by endurance athletes that by improving these areas of physical conditioning in advance of marathon training, they consistently reach their Peak Performance on race event days.
